Film camera of the week

This week "__" = Film Camera!

whats the best little plastic camera for street photographers and toddlers alike? Why, its the HOLGA of course.
Photobucket

"The concept is simple - a minimal and inexpensive camera using medium format 120 film. It would contain only the bare necessities for photo mechanisms, and provide a cheap and accessible alternative for students and enthusiasts to dip their toes into the otherwise very expensive world of medium format photography." (taken from Holga/History)
But due to accidental double exposures and light leaks, the Holga has become a cult classic, often having beautiful (though sometimes unintentional) artistic results!

We, here at The Green Paige Photography, encourage artistic experimentation and applaud all those with a love and passion for (or simply active curiosity of) photography! That being the case we have one (slightly used... I couldn't resist...but perfect condition) Holga to give away! Simply leave a comment with what you would use the camera for. The winner will be decided on May 1, 2009. (that's in 2 weeks for anyone counting)

so, good luck lomographers!

*What would you do with the little plastic wonder?*

  2. I have, but as the images are film, and I have no scanner, i can't post them, but the link in the P.S. has some great images.

  3. Great contest! I have a friend who is battling cancer. She will be finishing her radiation treatments at the end of this month, and I'd use the camera to take her out and do a funky session to celebrate her victory!

  4. *I would take this camera on a road trip with me. I would shoot one roll of film in every state and make it into a book and dedicate it to you.

*With the camera I would change the world.

*I would use this camera to teach my children to love film.

*I would use this camera to photograph my best friend.

*I would cherish the camera my entire life and when I die, I will leave it to someone who loves film as much as I do.

  5. Wow, I was gonna say I would take it with me everywhere I go, since it's so lightweight. I'm constantly looking for "my shot" but most of the time my regular camera is too heavy for me to carry around, especially on my bike! But, I think Stephanie Cantin trumps me :) Congratulations to her friend.

  6. i might not qualify, but i would probably carry it around with me everywhere i go, and take one random image everyday of something that i am doing. i've been thinking about doing this anyway. something really simple, low tech, and easy. maybe if i don't win this, i can do it with an old 20d and a 50mm lens.

  7. I would ask all of my friends to shoot a roll of film on this camera and try to inspire the artist within those who haven't yet tapped into it. The Holga is so appealing because there's is this unknown variable and you just have to let go and see what it does with what you give it.

  8. I'd use it to help jump start my photography. I'm in a dry spot, and some sort of new (to me) type of photography would definately help me ou t.

  9. As a broke world traveler, I would take my holga around with me to places like China, Thailand, India, and Egypt to document their lives.
Isn't that what Lomo is about any ways. Instead of showing hyped up images about poverty, I would show their lives as they simply are but in beautiful medium format as see through a plastic lens!
Care to see a recent photo I took? http://tinyurl.com/d3chz8

  10. I have an 19 month old, I would use the camera to take pictures of him and help him explore the forgotten world of film photography. He already understands digital!
